Creating a Stunning Card with the Mixed Florals Stamp Set & AI-Generated Colour Combo
If you’ve ever felt stuck in a color rut, today’s card-making adventure is just what you need! I decided to shake things up and let My AI Tool (The Colour Companion) choose my color combination for a fresh take on the Stampin Up Mixed Florals Bundle. The result? A bold, unexpected, yet stunningly cohesive card that is sure to inspire you to step outside your creative comfort zone.
The Color Challenge
I used my Colour Companion tool to generate a four-colour combination based on the Mixed Florals Stamp Set. It suggested Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo, Lemon Lolly, and Pecan Pie. Now, I’ll admit, the Pecan Pie threw me for a loop at first! But rather than dismiss it, I decided to trust the process and make it work.

Stamping & Coloring the Floral Image
I started by stamping my floral image using Pecan Pie ink instead of traditional black. One of the great things about Stampin’ Blends is that they allow you to use any colour ink for a softer, more blended effect.
- Leaves & Stems: I coloured them using Granny Apple Green with a touch of Lemon Lolly on the tips for added dimension.
- Floral Blooms: Instead of traditional yellow daisies, I opted for a bold Melon Mambo to create high contrast.
- Background Filler Flowers: These were kept soft with Lemon Lolly, blending beautifully into the composition.
- Floral Centers: I added texture by stippling dots of Pecan Pie and Lemon Lolly to give the appearance of depth.
Bringing It All Together: The Card Layout
For the base, I stuck with classic Thick Basic White to keep the design fresh and crisp. Then, I layered:
- Melon Mambo cardstock with ink blending around the edges for added richness.
- Diagonal stripes of Pecan Pie Designer Series Paper to introduce a bit of an earthy, grounding element.
- Accent strips of Lemon Lolly and Granny Apple Green cardstock for contrast and balance.
To add texture and interest, I stamped a background pattern with Pecan Pie ink using one of the images from Elements of Text Stamp Set. A few ink splatters images from the same stamp set tied the whole design together beautifully.
Finishing Touches & Embellishments
To complete the card, I chose:
- White twine wrapped around the layers and tied in a delicate bow.
- A heat-embossed “Happy Birthday” sentiment on Melon Mambo cardstock using Versamark & White Embossing Powder.
- Pecan Pie Ribbon Dots for a bit of glossy shine.
Final Thoughts
While this color combination initially scared me, I THINK I love how it turned out! The Pecan Pie adds a warmth that grounds the vibrant Melon Mambo and Granny Apple Green, while the Lemon Lolly keeps everything light and fresh.
