I skipped traditional autumn tones and went for a fresh, lush green look using <strong>Stampin\u2019 Blends<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mossy Meadow Dark<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Old Olive Dark<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Old Olive Light<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before I started, I did a <strong>quick swatch test<\/strong>. It is surprising how close some \u201clight\u201d and \u201cdark\u201d markers can be in value, so checking your blends on scrap card makes a big difference. I wanted a true <strong>dark\u2013medium\u2013light trio<\/strong>, so I chose Mossy Meadow Dark as my deepest shade and the two Old Olives for mid and light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Technique recap:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Stamp the tree<\/strong> in black (or try Smoky Slate stamped off for a softer outline once you are confident).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With <strong>Mossy Meadow Dark<\/strong>, \u201cpounce\u201d colour into the areas where the artist has drawn shading lines. Imagine looking at a real tree \u2013 there are gaps, darker clumps and lighter patches.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Switch to <strong>Old Olive Dark<\/strong> and pounce over and around the darker areas, leaving plenty of white space.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With <strong>Old Olive Light<\/strong>, loosely scribble to join everything together, still allowing some little gaps to suggest light shining through the leaves.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go back in with a few <strong>dots<\/strong> of Mossy Meadow Dark in places where you want more depth \u2013 dotting rather than heavy colouring keeps the texture.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You do not need perfect \u201csmooth\u201d blending here. As the branches get finer, you can simply suggest them with tiny lines \u2013 no one will be checking them with a magnifying glass!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To finish the foliage, I brought in a <strong>Stampin\u2019 Up! coloured pencil<\/strong> (a green similar to Garden Green) and added a light <strong>\u201cscumbling\u201d scribble<\/strong> over the lighter areas. Think of a doctor\u2019s messy signature \u2013 loose, scribbly circles. This gives a gorgeous, subtle extra layer of texture. You can also add a touch of <strong>yellow pencil<\/strong> (like Crushed Curry) just on the tips of some clusters for a hint of sunlight.<\/p>\n\n\n<style>.kb-image17560_5648c4-6b .kb-image-has-overlay:after{opacity:0.3;}<\/style>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-kadence-image kb-image17560_5648c4-6b size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Autumn-Trees-no-outline.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"kb-img wp-image-17563\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Autumn-Trees-no-outline.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Autumn-Trees-no-outline-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Autumn-Trees-no-outline-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Autumn-Trees-no-outline-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Autumn-Trees-no-outline-560x560.jpg 560w, https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Autumn-Trees-no-outline-400x400.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Autumn-Trees-no-outline-600x600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Autumn-Trees-no-outline-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Simple layered layout with ink-blended sky<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because the tree is such a large focal image, I kept the layout simple:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Card base:<\/strong> Balmy Blue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Layer:<\/strong> A panel of <strong>Floral Delight Designer Series Paper<\/strong> (also on the Last Chance list)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Panel behind the tree:<\/strong> A die-cut <strong>arched shape<\/strong> (Everyday Arches) ink-blended with <strong>Balmy Blue<\/strong> for a soft sky glow<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Balmy Blue can be a little intense for blending, so I started <strong>off the edge of the card and worked in<\/strong>, building a soft halo around the arch rather than a heavy solid colour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Finishing touches: sentiment and embellishments<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the greeting I used the <strong>\u201cHappy Birthday\u201d<\/strong> from the <strong>Not 29 Anymore<\/strong> stamp set (also retiring), <strong>white heat embossed<\/strong> on a narrow Old Olive strip. A thinner sentiment lets the artwork shine through \u2013 perfect for masculine cards where you want strong lines but not a huge block of text hiding your image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To finish, I added a few of the upcoming <strong>Glossy Moody Dots<\/strong> in Old Olive.
