I placed the shiny down and laid my card on an angle and secured it with sticky tape (no, it didn&#8217;t melt). Sometimes a clean and simple layout allows the foiling to become the real star of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Partial Hot Foiling Technique | Stampin&amp;apos; Up! Hot Foil System | Garden Silhouette Hot Foil Die\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-_Owvbp7Bok?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tips I Learnt During My First Play with the Stampin Up Hot foil system<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As this was only my third time using the Hot Foil System, I thought I&#8217;d share a few things I discovered along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Rolling the sandwich through your Stampin&#8217; Cut &amp; Emboss Machine slowly gave the best results.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic White Cardstock foiled beautifully, even though Stampin&#8217; Up! recommends trying Two-Tone Cardstock as well.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vellum also produced gorgeous foiled results and is definitely worth experimenting with.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you&#8217;re only foiling part of a plate, covering the exposed section with copy paper helped protect the shim without causing any issues.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep all of your leftover foil pieces. It was a great reminder that many of the &#8220;waste&#8221; pieces from hot foiling can become beautiful backgrounds or feature elements for future cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I also discovered that the negative foil includes a protective plastic film. Removing it without leaving a small border can sometimes lift parts of the foil, so it&#8217;s worth experimenting to find the finish you prefer.
