When you are adding water to cardstock, regular Basic White can warp or pill more easily, while Thick Basic White gives you a little more strength and flexibility.

For the background, I added Fresh Freesia ink to my glass mat, mixed it with water, then pressed the cardstock into the colour. This created a soft, loose watercolour effect.

To build up more texture, I added extra clean water with a paintbrush and allowed it to puddle in places. Once dried with a heat tool, those puddles created beautiful cloudy water lines across the background. It is such an easy way to add interest without needing a lot of extra supplies.

Stamping the Stampin Up Begonia Belle Flowers

The flowers were stamped separately using the Stampin Up Begonia Belle stamp set. For the two-step rose image, I found it worked best to stamp the larger image first in the lighter colour, then add the smaller detailed image over the top in the stronger colour.

For this project I used a Colour INKspiration combination of:

Fresh Freesia

Melon Mambo

Berry Burst

Granny Apple Green

Old Olive

It is not a combination I would usually reach for on my own, especially Granny Apple Green and Old Olive together, but that is one of the best things about a colour challenge. It encourages you to try colours in a different way and see what happens.

Arranging the One Sheet Wonder Panel

After fussy cutting the stamped flowers and leaves, I arranged them across the watercolour panel in a cross-style layout. This meant that once the panel was cut into four pieces, each section would have part of the floral design.

One helpful tip is to only add glue to the centre of some pieces at first. This gives you room to tuck leaves underneath and adjust the arrangement before everything is fully secured.

Cutting the Panel into Four Cards

When cutting a layered One Sheet Wonder panel like this, take your time with the paper trimmer. Some areas may have two or three layers of cardstock where the flowers overlap, so you may need to press firmly and cut slowly.

Once the panel was cut into four, I trimmed the edges and rotated each piece to see which direction looked best. This is one of my favourite tips from this project: once your One Sheet Wonder panel is cut apart, do not assume every piece has to stay in its original direction. Turn them around and decide whether each one works better as portrait or landscape.

Finishing the Cards

To finish the cards, I added the floral panels to Berry Burst card bases. I used a Stylish Shapes circle die-cut for the sentiment, “Sending lots of happiness your way,” and tucked a little baker’s twine behind the sentiment for softness.

A few rhinestones added just the right amount of sparkle without taking away from the watercolour background or stamped flowers.

You could also add Wink of Stella to the flowers, but keep in mind that strong colours like Berry Burst and Melon Mambo may bleed slightly when reactivated with moisture. Another pretty option would be to add Hot Foiled Swiss Dot style background for extra shine.

.kb-row-layout-id17986_5f219f-fe >
