Advent Calendar Door 3"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019re up to Door 3 of the Stampin\u2019 Up! Advent Calendar, and this week\u2019s little surprise immediately had me thinking shaker card!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Behind Door 3 was a gorgeous mix of sequins in copper flowers, blue, opal tones and gold butterflies. Products<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The warm coppery tones in the sequins made me think of Cajun Craze and autumn-toned sunflowers, while the blue sequins gave me the perfect excuse to do something a little different \u2013 <strong>blue leaves<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I stamped the large floral image in Secret Sea and coloured it with Stampin\u2019 Blends, using Misty Moonlight for the leaves and Golden Glow for the flowers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And yes, leaves can absolutely be blue!  Are we not artists?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of my favourite things about card making is taking colour cues from the products I already have in front of me. You don\u2019t always need to follow traditional colours. Pulling that Misty Moonlight through the leaves helped tie the stamped image back to the sequins and made the whole card feel coordinated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quick Stampin\u2019 Blends Colouring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This wasn\u2019t meant to be a full colouring class, so I deliberately kept the colouring quick and loose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the leaves, I used just one Misty Moonlight Blend and created extra depth by layering the same colour over itself. I then added extra depth around the flower centres before dotting Calypso Coral into the centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s a good reminder that colouring doesn\u2019t have to take forever to be effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Making the Shaker Card<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It had been a very long time since I\u2019d made a shaker card \u2013 and apparently I\u2019d forgotten just how long!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I die cut an arch from the <strong>Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper<\/strong>, then added a Window Sheet behind the opening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s a handy little recycling tip too: I\u2019ve kept Window Sheets from old stamp packaging over the years. If they have marks or residue on them, a little isopropyl alcohol can clean them up beautifully and give them another life on your cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Foam Adhesive Strips were added around the arch to create the shaker compartment before adding the Door 3 sequins.<\/p>\n\n\n<style>.kb-image18245_96c2fb-8d .kb-image-has-overlay:after{opacity:0.3;}<\/style>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-kadence-image kb-image18245_96c2fb-8d size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/YT-2-1-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"kb-img wp-image-18248\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/YT-2-1-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/YT-2-1-400x266.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/YT-2-1-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/YT-2-1-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/YT-2-1-560x373.jpg 560w, https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/YT-2-1-600x399.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.alisatilsner.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/YT-2-1.jpg 1537w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My strips were rather old and determined to fall apart while I was using them, so perhaps another lesson from this week\u2019s Live is: <strong>don\u2019t leave your adhesive supplies sitting in the cupboard for years!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the battle with the adhesive, the shaker still worked beautifully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Those Finishing Touches<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The large Radiant Sunflowers image sits across the front of the shaker window, with one of the gorgeous coordinating pots tucked underneath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the sentiment, I stamped <strong>\u201cEnjoy\u201d<\/strong> onto coordinating Designer Series Paper and heat embossed it in white.
