I\u00a0 often hear that creating cards for the Men in our lives can sometimes cause us some grief.<\/p>\n

I’m happy to tell you that they don’t have to be tricky, \u00a0bland in colour, or lacking in embellishments.<\/p>\n

Stampin’ Up! have already provided us with great images that we can use in our man cards, so let’s focus on the other elements that go into creating a card – layout, colour and embellishments.<\/p>\n

Layouts are probably the hardest part of the card.\u00a0 I sometimes make myself a quick ‘mud map’ of how I’d like my cards to look.\u00a0 You can also take a layout of a card you admire, or even search for a layout challenge.\u00a0 I use these a lot too.\u00a0 It’s the first step to seeing the card in my mind.\u00a0 Male cards can have loads of layers too, don’t be afraid to use them.<\/p>\n

\"High<\/p>\n

The card above was actually based on a card I found on Pinterest.\u00a0 I loved the layout of the card, \u00a0the\u00a0 nautical theme, and colours that were used in it.\u00a0 My lighthouse scene is the same as the Pinterest card, but I did invert the red and blue.\u00a0 I added some stamping to the blue panel, and sponged around each layer.<\/p>\n

As you can see, there’s nothing bland about the colours that have been used to make the High Tide card.<\/a><\/p>\n

Colours for your man card don’t have to be all browns, or dark colours eithers.\u00a0 The card below using Wetlands <\/a>is the card I made for my Husband and my Dad for Father’s Day last year.\u00a0 It’s still sitting on our cupboard.<\/p>\n

Don’t be afraid to try brighter colours, men love them too.<\/p>\n

The last component to our card is embellishments.\u00a0 Now I don’t think I’d go adding bling and sparkle to my man cards, but you can still add enamel dots for that extra bit of colour. Staples are a great masculine embellishment, I’ve used one to staple\u00a0 Burlap ribbon to the side of my layer in the High Tide Card.\u00a0\u00a0 I’ve also used threads of Burlap in my Wetlands card.\u00a0 Natural twine and Bakers twine would also be great option.<\/p>\n

\"UrbanThis year, Stampin’ Up! have\u00a0designed the Urban Underground Suite – dedicated entirely to our men folk.\u00a0\u00a0 Use brushed silver nuts and bolts to hexagon embossing folders for texture.<\/p>\n

Hopefully taking a look at each part of creating a man card has taken the trickiness out of it for you.\u00a0 Really, they are just like making lady cards.<\/p>\n
