Create an Embellishment Cluster
Now I’m not very skillful when I create an embellishment cluster, I’m dreadful at! What’s an embellishment cluster you ask? Well I think it’s a group of different types of embellishments in one little cluster, as opposed to embellishments all over your card, or scrapbook page. Your cluster could be the main focal image, or you could have a couple of little clusters.
I’ll show you my card first, then explain it.

In my team group, one our team members posted a challenge – to use wooden embellishments. Well I do have some of those, I rarely (never) use them (blush). I’d picked out a simple card map to follow. Grabbed my Forver Greenery Pattern Paper, matching Card and Inks and off I went.
Only I thought my card looked a little on the dull side, and the wooden embellishments just sort of sat there with no real meaning. My Gold Hoops sat on the floor, unopened! So I grabbed them, and some ribbons.
Working in odd numbers helps make your cluster pleasing to the eye. You see here with my Embellishment Cluster that I have 3 main types of embellishments. The Gold Hoops, In Good Taste Elements (wooden leaves) and the Ribbon. And I’ve used 5 individual pieces. 2 leaves, and 2 types of ribbon – Scalloped Linen Ribbon and Linen Thread

To created this particular cluster, I started by adhering only right hand side of my sentiment to the card front. Using Glue Dots, I secured a piece of the Pretty Peacock Scalloped Linen Ribbon around the Gold Hoop. I tied a piece of Linen Thread around the ribbon.
I then slipped the Hoop under the left hand side of the sentiment and adhered it in place with glue dots. I was then able to slip the 2 leaves under the ribbon. They look a little more in place rather than just stuck on my card now.
I’m really happy with the way my embellishment cluster came out, and I can’t wait to try some more.

The colours I’ve used for this card are Pretty Peacock and White, but there’s also Pear Pizzazz, Gold and the natural colours of the wooden leaves and linen.
