Create Dimensional Cards with Mix & Match Ephemera Packs
Looking for a fresh card idea that’s fun, dimensional, and packed with personality? You’re going to love this week’s project! In my latest live, we dove into the Mix & Match Ephemera Packs – specifically the Fully Flowering Ephemera Pack – and created a pop-up-style card that folds flat for posting, but stands beautifully on display.
While my team jokingly dubbed it the “gravestone card” (you’ll see why!), the design is easily transformed into a charming celebration card, especially with the whimsical birds and floral elements in this ephemera set.

What You’ll Need:
- Fully Flowering Ephemera Pack
- Labels & Layers Ephemera Pack – for the sentiment piece
- Optional sentiments from Greetings for All or Say Something Ephemera Pack
- Around It All Dies – large, layered circles
- Plaster Painting 3D Embossing Folder
- Pool Party cardstock
- Designer Series Paper (Subtles 6×6 DSP in Pool Party)
- Wink of Stella
- Blending brush and ink (Pool Party)
- Adhesives, dimensionals, scoring tool
- Stampin’ Blends for colouring embellishments
Step-by-Step Card Construction
We began by choosing coordinating elements from the Mix & Match Ephemera Packs – flowers, greenery, a sweet little bird, and a sentiment label. These packs make designing cohesive projects a breeze with their pre-cut designs and thoughtful colour coordination.
Next, we used one of the large Around It All circle dies to create a focal base in Pool Party. This formed the background for our ephemera cluster.
To enhance the circle, we debated between ink splatter and dry embossing – and decided, why not both? A bit of Pool Party ink blending around the edges gave depth, and we added a generous Wink of Stella splatter for sparkle. Then, the Plaster Painting 3D Embossing Folder added beautiful texture that subtly complemented the elements.
The little bird was treated to a full Wink of Stella coating – because you can never have too much shimmer!
Creating the 3D Stand
We constructed two small rectangular tubes from Pool Party cardstock to act as supports for the pop-up front. These were scored at 1″ intervals to form sturdy cuboids that fold flat for mailing. The decorated circle panel was adhered to the front of one tube, and then the second tube was glued behind to form the base.
The result? A card that pops up on display but folds flat into a larger envelope (such as a C5 in Australia).
Finishing Touches
A “Happy Birthday” sentiment was tucked beneath the bird, popped up on dimensionals. We finished off with Antique Pearls, gently coloured with Stampin’ Blends to match Pool Party. These pearls are fantastic because they can be tinted to suit any project.
Why You’ll Love This Design
- Easy to customise: Choose your favourite ephemera pack and sentiments to suit any occasion.
- Interactive: Pop-up cards always impress – and this one is deceptively simple to make.
- Uses up supplies: Great for using leftover die cuts or patterned paper.
- Perfect for mailing: Folds flat for an envelope while still standing tall when displayed.
Whether you’re looking to wow someone with a birthday card, or simply showcase the gorgeous artwork in your Mix & Match Ephemera Packs, this project is a fantastic way to stretch your supplies and experiment with dimension.

Cheers for now
