A Colourful Twist with Gallery Blooms & Feathered Fun
In this week’s live stream, I crafted a playful yet elegant card featuring the Stampin Up Gallery Blooms Bundle, beautifully combined with the upcoming Stampin Up Feathered Fun Stamp Set. The result? A cheerful layered card where flowers and parrots meet in a whimsical twist—perfect for spring cards, nature lovers, or just a “thinking of you” moment.
Let’s explore the creative choices and techniques behind the design, and how you can make your own version!

For that soft ombre blend on the petals and the parrot—colours that tie beautifully into the DSP.
Techniques Highlighted in the Live:
1. Testing Your Colour Blends
Before committing to paper, I tested various blends of Stampin’ Blends markers to ensure a smooth transition from Dark Calypso Coral to Peach Pie. This avoids unwanted harsh lines and helps visualise how colours sit together—especially when matching patterned paper.
2. Ombre Colouring on the Parrot
By starting light on the head and blending into darker tones down the body, we created a natural gradient that mimics birds in the wild. The Lost Lagoon wings tied everything together with the paper beautifully.
3. Layering to Create Depth
The finished layout included a Lost Lagoon base, layered DSP background, a die-cut circle for contrast, and floral and bird elements popped up on dimensionals. Whether you tuck the bird behind or in front of the flowers (yes, that debate went on for a while!), the dimension adds life and movement to the card.
4. Customising Embellishments
I used Antique Pearls coloured with Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends to match the floral tones. Two layers of ink gave a rich, glossy finish that’s still pearlescent underneath—a subtle but stunning detail.
Cardmaking Tips:
- Die-cut sentiment strips after stamping if you’re a perfectionist—it’s far easier to centre them this way!
- Shrink your top panel slightly if your focal shape feels “lost” in the layout—it tightens the composition and keeps eyes on your main image.
- Tuck vs. Layer: Tucking your parrot behind the flowers gives a sense of natural hiding in foliage, while layering in front makes it a clear focal point. You choose!
This card perfectly blends softness with character, and the colour play makes it endlessly adaptable. Whether you’re tucking your parrot behind or letting it shine out front, one thing is clear— Stampin Up Gallery Blooms and Stampin Up Feathered Fun are a match made in crafty heaven.
