Soft & Textured Floral Card with the Layers of Beauty Bundle
If you love creating cards that look detailed and layered (without feeling complicated), this week’s Thursday Live project is one you’re going to want to try. I sat down to play with a brand new Colour Inkspiration combination — Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, and Bubble Bath — and paired it with one of my all-time favourite bundles… the Stampin Up Layers of Beauty Bundle.

Why You’ll Love the stampin up Layers of Beauty Bundle
There are some stamp sets that you reach for occasionally… and then there are the ones you keep coming back to again and again.
This is one of those.
The combination of stamps, dies, and coordinating layering stencils makes it incredibly easy to build depth and dimension without overthinking it. Even if your stamping isn’t perfect (mine definitely wasn’t on this card), the layering process smooths everything out beautifully.
And if it’s currently on the Last Chance list… I would not be waiting. TIP – Make sure you check out the individual prices of bundles, they are often cheaper than the Bundle price.
The Colour Combo That Makes This Card Shine
This colour palette was a little outside my comfort zone — especially Bubble Bath — but that’s exactly why challenges like this are so good.
- Daffodil Delight – used for the rose
- Pool Party & Coastal Cabana – for the leaves (yes, blue leaves… and they work!)
- Bubble Bath – used sparingly as an accent
The key here is balance. If there’s a colour you’re not sure about, don’t avoid it — just use it lightly. In this card, Bubble Bath was softened right down and used in small touches so it didn’t overwhelm the design.

The Key Technique: Layered Stencilling (with one colour)
One of the biggest tips from this card is how to approach the stencils.
Instead of overloading your brush with ink, try this:
- Use what’s already on your blending brush for the first layer
- Hold your brush further back on the handle to reduce pressure
- Build colour gradually across the layers
This gives you a much softer, more controlled result — especially important if (like me) you tend to be a bit heavy-handed.
Using the same colour across multiple stencil layers (like Daffodil Delight for the entire rose) also creates a beautifully cohesive look without needing to switch inks.

Adding Texture Without Overpowering Your Design
This card is a great example of how to layer texture without losing your focal point.
Here’s what was added:
- Lovely Stripes Embossing Folder for subtle background interest
- Light ink splatter stamping for a soft, grungy texture
- Extra die-cut leaves tucked behind the focal image for fullness
The trick is to keep everything light and intentional. Nothing should compete with your main image — it should just support it.

A Simple Trick to Tone Down Strong Colours
If you ever feel like a colour is too bright or doesn’t quite fit (hello again, Bubble Bath), try this:
- Add it as a small die-cut element
- Or colour embellishments to match
- Or even place it behind another layer to soften it
On this card, colouring embellishments with a Stampin’ Blend gave just a hint of pink without it taking over the design.

Finishing Touches
The final card came together with:
- A layered focal point using circles and borders
- Dimensionals to create different height levels
- A simple sentiment: “Have the Best Day”
It’s one of those cards that feels detailed and thoughtful… but is actually quite relaxed to put together once you break it down.
Final Thoughts
If you’ve been looking for a bundle that helps you create layered, artistic cards without the stress, the Stampin Up Layers of Beauty Bundle is absolutely worth having in your collection.
And if you haven’t played along with a colour challenge in a while — take this as your sign. You might just discover a new favourite combination (even if it includes a colour you weren’t sure about).
Now tell me… are you team “stick to your favourite colours” or “try something new”?

Cheers for now
