Gallery Blooms Cardmaking Ideas: How to Use Retiring Products with Fresh New Colours
If you love mixing old favourites with brand new colours, this week’s card is a beautiful example of how to make the most of what you already have—while still keeping your projects feeling fresh and current.
During my Thursday Live, I sat down to create a layered floral card using the Stampin Up Gallery Blooms Bundle, paired with some of the new in colours.
And if this bundle is still on your wishlist, here’s your reminder—it’s on the Last Chance list.

You’ll Love the Stampin up Gallery Blooms Bundle
There’s something about this bundle that just works.
The florals are bold enough to stand on their own, but still detailed enough to carry a layered, dimensional design. And the coordinating dies? They cut beautifully, including those little open spaces that make layering so much easier.
One important tip I shared during the live—always check the pricing.
Right now, purchasing the stamp set and dies separately is actually cheaper than buying them as a bundle. It’s not always the case, but it’s definitely worth double-checking before you add to cart.
The Colour Combo That Makes This Card Shine
This card really came to life through colour.
I pulled tones directly from the designer series paper and paired them with:
- Peaceful Pine (new and already a favourite)
- Calypso Coral
- Crisp Cantaloupe
- Barely Blush (used sparingly)
- Soft Sea Foam for highlights
- Basic Beige
One of the biggest takeaways from this project was how similar some colours can be. Calypso Coral Light Blends and Crisp Cantaloupe Dark Blends are incredibly close—so much so that you really only need one of them in your blend.
And a quick heads-up: Barely Blush works beautifully in marker form… but as cardstock with these tones? Not so much. It can look quite harsh and almost fluorescent against the warmer hues.

The Key Technique: Layered Colouring with Blends
This card is all about building colour gradually.
Start with your darker tones at the base of the petals and where shadows naturally fall. Then layer in your mid-tones, and finally bring in your lighter colours towards the tips.
To soften everything, I added a touch of Barely Blush just on the edges of the petals. This slightly shifts the tone without overpowering the warmth of the corals.
For the leaves, I experimented with a light-over-dark technique using Soft Sea Foam—and it acted almost like a colour lifter, softening the tips and creating a natural highlight.
It’s one of those happy accidents that turned into a technique I’ll definitely use again.
Building the Layers (Without Overthinking It)
Once the colouring was done, it was time to bring the card together.
This design uses multiple layers:
- A patterned paper base
- Embossed background layer (Damask Designs)
- Die-cut floral focal point
- A simple circle element to anchor the design
I added a bit of ink blending around the edges to give it a soft, slightly vintage feel—but kept the overall look clean rather than distressed.
One of my favourite parts of this layout is how moving a single layer the strip of Peaceful Pine) can completely change the look of the card. It’s a great reminder that you don’t need a complicated design—just thoughtful placement.

Finishing Touches That Make a Difference
To finish the card, I added:
- A “Sending Love” sentiment stamped in Peaceful Pine
- Antique pearls coloured to match the project
- Subtle ink blending for depth
You could easily take this further with splatter, ribbon, or extra die cuts.
Sometimes simple layering and strong colour choices are enough.
Don’t Miss This One
If you’ve been eyeing the Gallery Blooms Bundle, now is the time.
Between the versatility of the images, the ease of layering, and how beautifully it pairs with both current and new colours—it’s one of those sets you’ll reach for again and again.
And with it being on the Last Chance list… I wouldn’t wait.
