Lily of the Valley Cardmaking Ideas with Ink Blending and Layered Detail
If you love a soft floral card with plenty of layers, texture and a little bit of “let’s see where this goes” creativity, this Stampin Up Lily of the Valley card is a lovely one to try.
For this week’s Thursday Live, I played along with the Global Design Project challenge, CASEing the designer Kim Fee, and used the Stampin Up Lily of the Valley Bundle as the main feature. The layout gave me a beautiful starting point, but as always, once the pieces started coming together, the card took on a life of its own.

The first thing I noticed when opening the Lily of the Valley stamp set was just how large the main floral image is. It is one of those stamp sets where the flowers can easily become the whole focal point of the card, which is perfect if you enjoy creating cards with impact. The bundle also includes coordinating dies, plus some lovely detailed texture dies, including leafy pieces and a cross-hatch style background element. These are the kinds of dies that make it easy to add extra interest without needing a lot of extra products.

For the base of the card, I used Granny Apple Green cardstock, paired with a piece of embossed Granny Apple Green using the Lovely Stripes Embossing Folder. I added a little ink blending around the edges with Garden Green ink, which gave the cardstock more depth and helped it stand apart from the other layers.
One of my favourite colour discoveries during this card was how beautiful Garden Green looks blended over Granny Apple Green. It almost takes on a blue-green look, which adds a really fresh feel without needing another ink pad. This is a great tip when you want your card to have more dimension but still keep your colour palette fairly simple.

The Lily of the Valley leaves were stamped onto Granny Apple Green cardstock using Secret Sea ink, then blended with Garden Green ink on the tips and base of the leaves. This gave the leaves a much stronger look and helped them hold their own against the patterned paper and embossed background.
For the flowers, I kept the colouring very soft. I added a small amount of Light Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends to the tops of the little bell-shaped flowers, then softened it with the Color Lifter. It was just enough colour to lift the white flowers without making them too bold.

The Designer Series Paper from the Lily of the Valley collection is absolutely gorgeous, and this card uses two coordinating patterns. One panel sits vertically behind the flowers, while another torn strip adds softness and movement across the card front. Tearing the paper is such a simple technique.

Because the stamped flower image is quite large, I was struggling to get the two images on the card front. I did think about just using one image, but then right at the end, the two images fell into place, and I added the second after the Live Stream. To balance the card, I tucked in one of the white die-cut background pieces behind the flower, which added that extra “something” without making the card too busy.

The sentiment, “So grateful for you,” was stamped in Secret Sea and cut using the Stylish Shapes Dies, I added a little Garden Green Ink around the edge. A few embellishments finished everything off.
This card is a beautiful example of how the Stampin Up Lily of the Valley Bundle can create soft, elegant, layered handmade cards. Between the large floral images, coordinating dies, ink blending possibilities and detailed background pieces, it is a bundle with plenty of creative options for card makers who love texture and dimension.
Lily of the Valley is part of a bigger Suite that also has specialty papers, embossing folder and embellishments.

When you’re watching the video replay, I lost internet connection for about 5 mins at the end, but the stream continued with a blue screen, if you slide ahead, I come back for a minute.
