Crafted Blooms Kit Alternatives: Turn Three Projects into Six Cards
Every now and then, a Stampin’ Up!® kit comes along that immediately catches my attention, and the Crafted Blooms Kit was one of those.
The kit is originally designed to create three pretty floral pieces for the Stampin’ Up! clipboards. While they would look lovely displayed that way, I knew I was far more likely to use the pieces if I turned them into cards instead.
So, that’s exactly what I did. With the contents of one Crafted Blooms Kit, three sheets of Crumb Cake cardstock, one ink pad and a couple of sentiments, I created six floral cards—and still had a few pieces left over.

What’s Included in the Crafted Blooms Kit?
The Crafted Blooms Kit includes an assortment of layered, die-cut flowers and leaves, decorative background pieces, banners, ovals, printed sentiments, Glue Dots and Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The colour combination is particularly lovely, with Calypso Coral, Cloud Cover, Crumb Cake, Golden Glow, Old Olive, Peaceful Pine, Pecan Pie, Petal Pink, Secret Sea and Strawberry Slush.
The flowers are printed on both sides, which is a great little detail when you’re shaping the petals. You don’t see a plain white reverse side if the edges lift away from the card.

Preparing the Layered Flowers
There are quite a few pieces to punch out and assemble, so I prepared most of mine before the Live. It took around an hour, but the flowers themselves were very easy to put together.
Gently shape each layer with a Bone Folder before adhering the pieces together. Be careful when removing and shaping the leaves, as the finer sections can tear if you pull too firmly.
Offset the flower layers slightly rather than trying to line everything up perfectly. Flowers aren’t perfectly symmetrical in nature, so the uneven placement helps them look fuller and more interesting.

Turning Three Projects into Six Cards
I divided the assembled flowers into the three groups shown in the kit instructions. Instead of placing each entire arrangement onto one clipboard piece, I split every group across two cards.
Crumb Cake was the perfect choice for the card bases. The decorative pieces in the kit have a softer white tone, so using Crumb Cake avoided having two slightly different whites sitting next to one another.
I trimmed some of the decorative panels to fit the card fronts and used the offcuts as strips, banners and smaller background layers. Even the foreign-language sentiment pieces could be reversed and used as plain decorative elements.
To keep the cards dimensional, I placed Stampin’ Dimensionals towards the centre of the larger flowers. This left room around the edges to tuck in leaves and smaller flowers. I also allowed some leaves and petals to remain loose rather than gluing every edge flat.

An Easy Tip for Arranging Your Flowers
Before adhering your pieces, move them around until you’re happy with the arrangement. If you think you might forget where everything belongs, take a quick photo with your phone. You can then refer to it as you glue each layer into place.
I finished my six Crafted Blooms Kit cards with sentiments stamped in Secret Sea ink and added Rhinestone Basic Jewels for a little sparkle. Wink of Stella would also look beautiful brushed over the flower centres.
The Crafted Blooms Kit is a lovely option even if home décor projects aren’t normally your thing. With just a few additional supplies, you can easily turn its three original projects into six beautiful handmade cards.
