US Convention 2013

Okay, so it’s my time to share my experiences of the US Convention that was held in Utah last month.

I don’t have a huge amount of photo’s to share as I didn’t get back to several of the events.  I was very homesick the first couple of days (cried big time on the plane to the US), and instead of going to the evening events, I skyped home to my boys.

But anyway, after 4 flights we finally arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Stampin’ Up!  had taken over the city (and airport), it was actually nice when asked ‘what brings you here’ to say it was for the Stampin’ Up! Convention, and not then have to explain what Stampin’ Up! is!!

We arrived on the Wednesday, but Convention didn’t start until Thursday late afternoon.  I did however have rehearsals for the class I presented in during the day, so it was great to meet the other ladies who were part of the class.

My husband Craig came to the Opening General Session and was a little out of his comfort zone!!

That night was the Social Gathering, which I didn’t get back to (I had intended to), but instead spent a lovely couple of hours skyping with my boys.

Friday was a day of mini classes (and a few hours trying to get my phone fixed).  Whilst wandering around the displays I bumped into my friend Candice.  We ended up in the Achievers Room chatting and having a great time.

Friday night was the awards night and after party, which I again didn’t get back to.  I know how I felt after the Australian Awards night and After Party and there was no way I was going to present feeling like that on top of Jet Lag!

So Craig and I went on a spur of the moment evening ride.

Saturday I presented 3 times during the day, so didn’t get to see much of Convention that day either.  Even though I was a tad nervous, I have to say I really did enjoy the whole experience.

This was the room empty, I really wish now that I’d been able to take a photo of the room full.  Craig had asked the capacity of the room (something I forgot to ask). He later told me the room held 2000, but  there were people standing around the walls of the room as the seating was full.

I’m very grateful to have been given the opportunity to do something well out of my comfort zone.

Then it was time of the Closing Session.  A whirlwind of days that’s for sure!!  An amazing experience.

Above each door was an instrument which, we thought when the doors were opened and closed, made the instrument strike and make a note.  Altho it didn’t happen all the time. ….  hmmm

I later discovered that these windmills were responsible for creating the notes, and because it wasn’t windy during our stay, they didn’t chime all that often!!

Sunday morning we gathered, ready to head off to the next leg of our trip – the Grand Vacation at Park City.

This is what loomed ahead of us as we made our way up the mountains!
