Embossing with a Mask Technique
I learnt something new today! And.. I shamelessly CASED the technique from Martin Stone, a UK demo. He does the most beautiful work.
He took a Decorative Mask and embossed it with his Cut & Emboss Machine – Say What!!??

So to start with, you’ll need the Base Plate WITHOUT the thin adapter plate, then a number 3 cutting plate, then your silicone mat. Place your card on top, then your decorative mask. Finish with a number 4 plate (the dark grey one). Now I’ve embossed dies this way, but never a mask.
After you’ve embossed your card, just tape the mask back over your card and you can either sponge or use the blending brushes to add colour to your embossed areas. You can leave your card white, but Martin took it one step further and lightly added extra colour to remove the white background.

Add some Wink of Stella to your snowflakes, or what ever embossed pattern you have used. So PRETTY!! I also added waaaaaay more sequins than I normally do. Talk about getting out of my comfort zone!
You might see a few more cards like this in the near future. It’s so much fun. And I love just using all white (and black in this case) and coming up with very colourful cards.
