A Sweet Technique with Perfectly Pears – Just Stamps, Ink, and Paper!
We’re officially back into the swing of things! After some time away and a bout of illness, I was so happy to return to my Thursday Lives with a fun technique and a gorgeous new product from Stampin’ Up! – the Perfectly Pears Bundle. This set is part of a broader suite released in July, and it’s already a firm favourite in my craft room.
This week, I paired the Perfectly Pears Bundle with Day 3 of our 31-Day Back to Creating Challenge happening over in my Facebook group. The prompt? SIP – just Stamps, Ink, and Paper. No dies. No embellishments. Just back to basics – and honestly, it was the perfect excuse to get a little inky with a favourite colouring technique.

Why You’ll Love the Perfectly Pears Bundle
Although this set includes coordinating dies and embellishments (like the sparkly low-profile dots), I wanted to show you just how beautiful it can be on its own. The images in this set are two-step stamps, with detailed outlines and watercolour-style filler stamps that give you a soft, hand-painted look. But for this project, I used only the outline images – and that’s where the real fun began.
Technique: White Craft Ink Underpainting
This technique is ideal for coloured cardstock. I started by white heat embossing the pear image onto Lemon Lolly cardstock. Then, I used Whisper White craft ink with an aqua painter to ‘paint’ the pear and leaf areas. This creates a soft base layer that allows your colours to sit on top with a beautiful, luminous quality – especially useful on coloured backgrounds.
Once the white layer dried, I painted over it with ink from the lid of my Stampin’ Up! pads – Darling Duckling, Mossy Meadow, and Old Olive – using a slightly dry brush for more control. Because of the white underpainting, the colours remained vibrant and blendable, even on the Lemon Lolly base.
I added subtle grounding with Pecan Pie ink, giving the pear a sense of weight and dimension. A few white splatters across the panel finished off the soft, painterly look without the need for extra embellishments.

Layering Without Dies
To stay within the SIP challenge rules, I trimmed down the coloured panel and layered it over a piece of Mossy Meadow Designer Series Paper from the suite. Although I skipped the dies and embellishments, I still added visual depth with ink blending around the focal panel and a white embossed sentiment on Mossy Meadow cardstock.
The result? A classic layered card that showcases your stamping and colouring skills without needing to reach for anything else.
